BMT (Bio-electric Massage Therapy) uses a bioelectric stimulation device, such as a TENS unit, to deliver a low-level electrical current to the body during massage therapy.

Unlike conventional TENS treatment, where electrode pads are placed directly onto the skin, BMT uses the therapist’s hands as the conductive pathway. A small electrical current is transferred through the therapist’s hands to the client’s tissues.

The electrical stimulation may activate peripheral motor nerves, including α-motor neurons, which can produce controlled muscle contractions. This stimulation is incorporated with hands-on massage techniques to assist with muscle activation, relaxation, circulation, and soft-tissue treatment.
