Chapman reflexes (also called Chapman’s points or neuromyopathic reflex points) are small, tender nodules found in the skin, fascia, or muscle that are thought to correspond to dysfunction in specific internal organs.
Palpable, pea-sized nodules
Typically feel firm or “gritty”
Located in predictable areas on the body
Often tender when pressed
They are most commonly found:
Along the anterior (front) trunk
Along the posterior (back) spine and rib areas
Chapman reflexes are tender body points that osteopathic physicians use as possible indicators of internal organ stress, based on a neuro-lymphatic reflex theory. They are part of osteopathic tradition rather than mainstream conventional diagnostic medicine.
