Oedema Massage

Oedema massage, also known as manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), is a gentle, specialized form of massage therapy designed to reduce oedema (also spelled edema), which is the buildup of fluid in the body's tissues. This type of massage stimulates the lymphatic system, helping it move lymph fluid out of swollen areas and back into circulation. 

What It Involves:

Gentle, rhythmic strokes and circular movements.
Often starts at the neck or trunk, even if the swelling is in the limbs — to clear central lymphatic pathways first.
Gradually moves toward the swollen area, encouraging drainage toward healthy lymph nodes.

Used for

Lymphedema (especially after cancer treatments like mastectomy or lymph node removal)
Post-surgical swelling
Chronic venous insufficiency
Injury-related swelling
